The Frothers made hard work of it early on, making Div 4 look like exactly where they should have been all along.

Eventually they were gifted a goal. A goalkeeper error plus a bit of ring-in magic: the Barons’ keeper threw it straight to Ehkaw, who took it down and put it straight back into the goal.

1-0

That had the keeper on edge, and it wasn’t long before he misplaced another throw. This time it didn’t result in a goal, but he threw his toys anyway. Gloves off, tantrum in full swing, he stormed off to sit on the side for the rest of the match. The game was delayed a few minutes while the Barons figured out who to bring on in his place.

Rage quit

It was just the disruption the Barons needed. After about five consecutive fouls going forward, the ball fell to one of their players on the edge of the box, who hit it hard and low past Cory.

1-1

That’s how it stayed into halftime, but the Frothers had plenty to feel confident about.

Second Half

Plenty of chances, but every time the Frothers either hit it straight at the keeper or didn’t hit it at all.

Eventually Sammy bundled one home after a couple of attempts, with the assist going to Lance.

2-1

Then history repeated itself. The keeper found Ehkaw again, who took it down and finished it brilliantly from long range.

3-1

And that’s how it stayed. The Frothers were off the mark.

Roll on Div 4.

Man of the Match

Brilliant saves, brilliant intercepts, and every decision right from between the sticks. Cory looked rock solid all game.

Honourable mention to Ehkaw for the brace and relentless hard work. When he came back on from the bench, the Barons could be heard sighing “not this guy again”. As a ring-in, he misses out on the official gong.

Dick of the Day

Jamie played revolving doors with the substitutions, coming back on multiple times and being the first man off every time.

being the first win in 14 months for some Frothers, and not being at the school. Post-match beers was back on the plate, and boy did they taste good.
