The boys were back in the promise land of Div 2, and a packed bench showed the increased appetite of the lads. Even Shokoohi found where the pitch was.
It wasn’t to be all sunshine and rainbows as the rain came down to make for a slick pitch. The Intergalactic team showed that they were no slouches, though, and played a tidy brand of football with quality around the pitch.
Intergalactic scored the first couple of goals, through some good passing and taking advantage of some attempted cute play at the back.
0-2
The Frothers didn’t really create too many opportunities, with a couple of 40 yard feel kicks comfortably dealt with by the hansom man between the stick at the other end.
The Frothers were looking to emulate what El Tri were up against against England, except go one better.
The half started well, and a good passing move up from the back, through Evan and Shokoohi and finally to Sarthak to pick the bottom corner go them back within touching distance.
1-2
The boys were pushing for an equaliser, however a corner going straight out gave Intergalactic the opportunity to take the goal kick quickly and catch the Frothers backline still dreaming about headed glory. The Intergalactic player cut inside and finished with the fine shot to the top corner.
1-3
The Frothers again pulled one back, this time benefiting from an easy turnover in the box. With Santiago putting the effort away.
2-3
The boys just couldn’t find what to do in the final third and that is how the game stayed.
An understated game in terms of goal involvement, but a player who was always in the right place and offering a lot going forwards and back was Sam. Div 2 should provide a hunting ground for the young Frother.
A man who may have been a little lucky to stay on the pitch with a a professional foul to prevent a breakaway. Jamie can pick-up his first DotD award for the Frothers.
