Thrilla in Manila

The boys were treated to some blood sports before the game, well those who showed up on time were. In the match before there was a dust-up after a late challenge resulted in a sucker punch and then a good old bit of personal assault as the goalkeeper wanted to get a hand on the ball.

Onto the Football

The boys are now playing non-stop at Ascott it appears. Don’t even worry about them photos then.

The Frothers definitely had the better of the first half 15 minutes but couldn’t quite weight the final passes on a slipper windy afternoon.

The Black bulls started to take the upper hand with possession, but it was to be their undoing as their centre-back got cute with the ball and got his pocket picked by Tyler. Driving onto goal Tyler held off the challenges and was able to slot a shot around the keeper

1-0

The Black bulls managed to get back level not too long afterwards with a great shot into the top corner.

1-1

Halftime

Into the break and Milan was off to get into a fight of his own, bedtime.

Some classic Frothers organisation as they entered the second half with a centreback down. Luckily there were players who couple deputise.

The Frothers again took the lead through a great first-time cross from Tavis that picked Lance out in the centre of the box. Taking a fantastic touch Lance had almost too much time in the box but picked out the side of the goal after making the keeper sweat.

2-1

Again, it wasn’t too long afterwards that the Black Bulls were able to equalise. A well-weighted through-ball allowed their striker to run through and level things up.

2-2

The Black Bulls then managed to sneak themselves into the lead in the unlikeliest of avenues, off a corner. The vertically challenged Bulls pumped a ball right onto the keeper and then were able to sweep home the resultant bouncing ball.

2-3

Pushing hard for an equaliser the Frothers won a corner in the dying minutes. The corner by Harry found the head of Chris whose header was cleared off the line. This only went as far as Charles who chested it down and powered a shot home from a couple of metres out to rescue a point for the Frothers.

3-3

Man of the Match

A couple of good options on this one. Tavis got a sweet assist and didn’t take the bait on what was to surely have been the most one-sided fight of his life. Lance is continuing his sweet run of form. Man of the match goes to the man who couldn’t stay away any longer and had to Froth, Milan. Seemingly everywhere along the backline in the first half (for better or worse..) Milan couldn’t help but tear up the Aotea roads to be Frother and Dad all in one evening.

Dick of the Day

Ryan picks this one up for getting a personal dressing down by the ref for asking how much he had been paid off. This was followed up with Ryan claiming all the offsides were incorrect, especially those in our favour.
